Stage 3: Preferred Options Consultation (Regulation 18)

Have your say. Be part of the plan

The progression of the North Lincolnshire Local Plan has now reached its third stage in plan preparation. This stage is known as the “Preferred Options” stage, and it is the third opportunity to have your say on how North Lincolnshire grows over the next 19 years, to 2036.

We have prepared a Preferred Options document that builds on earlier consultation undertaken at Stage 1 (2017) and Stage 2 (2018). It sets out planning issues that face North Lincolnshire over the next 19 years and preferred options for the way they could be addressed.

The Preferred Options document is supported by two important assessments that must be published alongside it – Preferred Options – Sustainability Appraisal and Preferred Options – Habitat Regulations Assessment.

Get Involved. Have your Say

We want to hear what you think about the Preferred Options document and the questions set out in it. We want to understand how you think we should develop and put into action the choices that will affect the long-term future of North Lincolnshire (our strategic decisions). These decisions need to ensure that we make the most of North Lincolnshire’s ideal location, distinctive places and resources if our economy is to grow and the health and wellbeing of our residents continues to improve, creating an exciting place to live, work, visit and invest.

Grow North Lincolnshire. Be Part of It

As part of preparing the new Local Plan, the council is looking to identify sites that may be suitable for allocating for development for various different uses. This means finding sites for:

  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Mixed use
  • Retail
  • Sport/leisure/tourism
  • Open space/Local Green Space
  • Waste management
  • Minerals extraction
  • Gypsies and travellers
  • Travelling showpeople

We have already undertaken Call for Sites exercises between February and April 2017 and February and March 2018. These sites have been assessed and this process has identified the preferred site allocations. As part of the Local Plan – Preferred Options consultation, we are giving you another chance to submit sites to us for consideration.

The easiest way to submit a site is by using the electronic form. All details of the site can be filled in and the site boundary drawn on the interactive map. Once submitted, the information provided will automatically be logged in our database. If required, we can provide assistance to help you use this system.

Sites should be submitted by 2 November 2019.
